The life of the oldest man in the world

Juan Vicente was born in El Cobre, Táchira state (Venezuela), on May 27, 1909. He was the ninth of the ten children of Eutiquio del Rosario Pérez Mora and Edelmira Mora.

In 1914 they moved to the town of Los Pajuiles, in San José de Bolívar, and at the age of five he began to work with his father and brothers in agriculture.

When he was ten years old, he attended school for only five months, since his teacher Carmen got sick. Fortunately, he learned the basics of reading and writing thanks to a notebook that his teacher gave him.

In addition, Juan Vicente was a bailiff in Caricuena between 1948 and 1958.

His marriage to Ediofina del Rosario García lasted some 60 years, until his wife passed away in 1997. They had six sons and five daughters, and the family has grown to 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

He is also known in his family for being a man of faith. He seeks to build a solid relationship with God and with his loved ones, and also prays the Rosary at least twice a day.

"My uncle Vicente transmits a lot of peace, tranquility and radiates a lot of joy. He is a person who has a lot to give. He enjoys the basics of life and is very grateful to God. His family is his support," said his nephew Freddy Abreu.

Juan Vicente Pérez Mora received the record title as the oldest man after the Spaniard Saturnino de la Fuente García - who was born on February 11, 1909 -, died on January 18, 2022 at 112 years and 341 days.

The oldest person in the world and the oldest woman in the world is the French nun André, who was born on February 11, 1904 and was baptized Lucile Randon. She is 118 years old.
