Ms. Deborah Yakubu/ Credits - Nairaland Forum

This is the story of how a Christian Lady, Deborah Emmanuel Yakubu was beaten up and burnt alive

By Ummie Hassan

An unfortunate incidence happened in Sokoto State at the Shehu Shagari College of Education on Thursday, May 12,  2022. It was reported that a young lady, who goes by the name Deborah Emmanuel Yakubu from Kebbi state(Repa L.G.A)an N.C.E 2 Student under the department of English. Was beaten mercilessly, stoned and burnt to death by some aggressive Muslim Course Mates.

It was gathered that an article was posted on the Course mates' WhatsApp Platform on May 11, concerning the prophet Mohammed(S.A.W) and Deborah, being against the post condemned and said all manner of things against it but no one responded. Not knowing they had planned evil against her.

On May 12, Deborah was done for that day at School and was leaving but unfortunately for her the angry Mob(Students), who have been trailing her movement, pounced on her, when she was just at the GatGate, out leave the School premises.

The angry Muslim Course Mates accosted her and asked her to repeat what she had written on the WhatsApp Platform the previous night. Deborah boldly repeated what she had sent to the group and according to them she insulted the Prophet Mohammed again. This triggered their anger and they began to hit Her with Clubs and the big Stones at her.

The Security Persons on duty at the Gate attempted to intervene but they where chased by the angry Mob. Any Muslim Passerby that came close and asked what was happening and was told will also join.

I guess they used the Islamic doctrine in this case which goes thus " duk wanda ya zagi annabi jininshi ya halatta.

The College of Education is already under lock and keys till further notice and the Sultan has ordered that the Culprits be fished out and brought to face the full wrath of the law.

Rev. Fr. Kelvin Ugwu advises Christians in the North

My Advice to Nigeria Christians in the North

The killing and burning to death of Ms Deborah Emmanuel in Sokoto state Nigeria were done in a college of Education. College of Education is where teachers are trained. On average, the murderers ought to be people of average learning, people who should be able to handle issues using a reasonable channel. But No, what we saw was something else.

Education does not really change people whose minds are made up, especially when it comes to religion.

The gory videos we were able to see of her death, were filmed and posted by the killers. It was all in excitement. And they are aware that nothing will happen. It is painful for me to admit this, in truth, nothing will happen to any of them. Sad, but that is the uselessness of the country we are in.

We know the root of the problem. The constitution of Nigeria is useless here. Even your Buhari, when he was angry with Twitter for banning and pulling down his statement that is genocidal in nature, what did he do? Did he not close Twitter for all Nigerians?

So please and please, if you are Christian schooling or serving or working in the North, or you have anything to do with Muslims anywhere, respectfully keep away from anything that will bring you into talking about their religion or their prophet.

Respect their prophet, don't argue or criticize the prophet. Believe me, if they gang up against you, the law of the country will not protect you. Those good Muslims you know will sympathize and do nothing.

After your death, the bishops/pastors/priests will write a letter condemning it. Some Muslim elites will write a statement condemning it. The Christian Association of Nigeria will issue a statement condemning the act and asking people to pray for your soul. That is all that will happen (that is if it even happens.)

Then the government will close the school (assuming it happened in the school), or issue a statement on how they are investigating the case.

For two days, it will trend on social media, and on the third day, another story will break out and everybody will move on.

The bible says in Matthew 10:16, be gentle as a Dove and be wise as the Serpent. Help yourself and be safe until when we finally come to our senses in Nigeria that the solution to our problem is not changing leaders every four years.

Fr. Kelvin, who demanded in a Facebook post that the hash tag #JusticeForDeborah should be made to trend, also posted comments from two people who supported the babaric act.

According to Fr. Kelvin, "First picture is Bashir Ahmad's stands, he is president Buhari's media aid. Second picture is  a journalist, a graduate of biology. Just take time to visit his Facebook page and read all his plenty portfolios. Both of them just spoke the minds of average Nigeria Muslims on this issue. It is sad, but that is the people you are sharing same country with".
