The Catholic Diocese of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay mourned the death of of a 43-years-old Priest, Rev. Fr. Ricardo José Guesser of the Missionaries of Saint Carlos (Escalabrinians), who allegedly committed suicide in his parish.
On its Facebook Page, the Diocese of Ciudad del Este lamented the death of Rev. Fr. Guesser, which occurred on Tuesday, May 2. "May the Lord have him in his holy glory," he added without elaborating on the causes of his death.
The Paraguayan newspaper ABC reported that the priest was found dead on Tuesday around 6:00 am (local time) in a hall of the Santa Rosa de Lima Church in Santa Rosa del Monday, a town located about 56 kilometers south of East City.

The La Nación Newspaper cited the prosecutor in the case, José Silguero, who said “we found him hanging, and due to the characteristics of the event, with the assistance of the forensic doctor, it was possible to verify and verify that it was a suicide .”
He was the “parish priest of the community, a person very loved by all the parishioners, even by the entire community. He is a foreigner, sir, he came from Brazil a few years ago”, he added.
The Diocese of Ciudad del Este making a biographical profile of the priest, says he was born on July 28, 1978 in Abdon Batista, in the Brazilian state of Saint Catherine.
He was ordained a priest on January 29, 2005. He was appointed Director of the Pastoral Center for Migrants in Cuiabá. In 2006 he was transferred to Peru, where he served as vocations animator and parochial vicar.
From 2008 to 2010 he was a collaborator in the Triple Frontier Mission in Arica (Chile). He was appointed parochial vicar at Santo António Parish in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2011, he assumed the role of parochial vicar in the Parish of Our Lady of Graces, in Guarujá, state of São Paulo. In 2013, he was transferred to the Holy Spirit the Divine Parish in Cuiabá, in addition to being the local superior in his religious community.
In 2016, he took over the Vocational Animation Center in Passo Fundo. In 2019, he was appointed Pastor at the Saint Joseph Parish in Ribeirão Pires, in São Paulo.
In January of this 2022 he was appointed pastor in the Saint Rose of Lima Parish, in Saint Rose, Alto Paraná, Paraguay.
