The Archdiocese of Santa Cruz (Bolivia), released on March 17, a letter in which the Order of Preachers(Dominicans) suspended the ministry and decided to begin the process of definitive expulsion of the priest Jesús Durán Galean.
The vice-provincial Prior of the Order of Preachers in Bolivia, Fr. Yinmy Caballero, addressed a letter dated February 22, 2022 to the Archbishop of Santa Cruz, Msgr. Sergio Gualberti, to express his "concern about different irregular acts that he is committing." Father Duran.
“For a long time, Father Jesús, under the pretext of helping the sick and elderly, has been taking money from different people who fall for his lie. For this reason, Father Jesús has been suspended from his priestly ministry for one year for correction,” the letter stated.
“At the end of the year we see that Father Jesús has not stopped his bad habits, on the contrary, he has continued to take money from people with different lies, several of them have come to my office demanding the cancellation of debts.”
“On the other hand, I also have information that Father Jesús has continued to celebrate Masses in homes, which is why we are going to begin a process of definitive expulsion from the Order.”
Friar Caballero asked the Archbishop of Santa Cruz to inform the parishes and chapels that Fr. Durán "is suspended from exercising the priestly ministry", that "he does not have any permission to seek economic resources for any social reason" and "has no home of children or the elderly to their responsibility”, concluded the letter.
