Statue of Santo Niño was placed beneath the sea to prevent fishermen from practicing dynamite fishing, which causes irreparable damage to the aquatic

The country is indeed filled with unique tourist attractions, among these one-of-a-kind escapades is this underwater shrine of the Santo Niño.

Located two kilometers away from the shores of Bien Unido, Bohol, and 9 meters under the sea, is a deepwater image of the Holy Child.

Underwater photographer Tacio Bautista, @tacio_bautista on Instagram, recently shared a photo of him kneeling before the underwater shrine. The photo was taken in October last year using a compact camera. (Photo courtesy of Tacio Bautista).

Bautista said his freediver friend that is originally from Bohol told him that the statue of Santo Niño was placed beneath the sea to prevent fishermen from practicing dynamite fishing, which causes irreparable damage to the aquatic ecosystem.

The Santo Niño, which is also referred as the Holy Child or even the Divine Infant Jesus of Prague is a 19" Statue of Jesus as a Child holding a globe with the left hand and raised the right hand as a sign of blessing the World.

According to Block Rosary Crusade Int'l, the original Statue of Santo Niño was a wedding gift from a Spanish Princess to her Austrian Royal Cousin. The statue of the Divine Infant jesus of Prague was even said to have spoken in 1967, when Rev. Fr. Cyril prayed before it, contemplating how God became Man for His people. The Statue said:
"Have mercy on me and I will have mercy on you
Give me hands and I will give you peace
The more you honour me, the more I will bless you."

A lot of miracles have been attributed to being wrought by Santo Niño, so emulating the Diver Friend of Tacio Bautista, who knelt before the Statue right under the water in adoration, let us say the prayer to Santo Niño, found on the Block Rosary Crusade Int'l website.

Mazy the Holy Child grant our Heart desires and give us peace. Amen.
