For the abolition of death penalty

The month of  September is here again. Pope Francis in has through the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network published his intention for the month of September.

This month of September, Pope Francis is looking at the Law Industry. On Thursday, August 2, 2018, the Catholic Church changed her stance on the death penalty. The Vatican announced that the death penalty is not permissible, explaining that the death penalty is an attack on the dignity of human life. This change was enacted by the Dicastery of Doctrine and faith, due to Pope Francis' stance on totally rejecting the death penalty.

In view of this, Pope Francis prays that the death penalty, which attack the dignity of human person, may be legally abolished in every country.

We too need to join this prayer of the Pope because putting to death, someone who had committed a heinous crime will in this World suffer the pains or torture for minutes or hours depending on which way the person was put to death. Aside from this, there are lots of people who later get vindicated but are dead and gone due to the law of death penalty. Even the Bible kicks against killing, that he who lives by the Sword shall die by one, although what we are talking about has to do with the law of the land.

Let us see it this way. As at the time a condemned Criminal dies, the feeling of that guilt ends here on earth, then, after death, it is now left to God to pass another judgement as it pleases him. Because God is merciful and just and we humans are not God, it may please him to put that Soul in Purgatory or probably Hell, to suffer either for a period of time in Purgatory or eternally in Hell. It may also please God to purify that Soul in Purgatory and bring it to Heaven, so what punishment did the law of the land then think it had meted out to that person.? The only thing we may conclude is that the Person had served as a scape Goat to all others, who may be considering such act. But the fact is, the one who had been put to death, did not live long enough to suffer the consequence of his/her action.

Let us join the Pope then, that the law of death penalty will be abolish and some other laws may be put in place, to enhance the dignity of human life.

Feel free to say your view in the comment section. May God bless us all.
